Curriculum

The School follows the curriculum and unified syllabus (Samacheer kalvi) of the Matriculation Board of Government of Tamil Nadu and prepare children for the SSLC board examination. The medium of instruction is English. First language is Tamil and the Second language is Hindi(Optional).

Kindergarten

Motor Skill

This skill is to help the children in moving their fingers freely

  • Scribbling in place sheets
  • Chaining the beads
  • Arranging the blocks
  • Helping the child in holding the pencil, chalk and helping them in turning pages also.

Celebration

Different kinds of festivals are celebrated with a concept to teach the children on unity in diversity. During celebrations the class rooms are setup as per the theme and the children are dressed and enacted to bring in main idea of celebration.

Play Way Methods

Academic is being taught by play way method, that is every step of teaching is done on the basis of activities and it’s being evaluated.

Working on Sounds – Phonetic

Phonetics are mainly taught in the class, which enables good command in English. Phonetic sound C.D. and audio players are played in the class and drilling is done by help of the teacher. Every class a new word with the sound is being taught to pronounce.

Music and Dance

Rhymes on Audio & Video player are being taught in the class with action and children are allowed to dance freely. Every week last period is allotted for music and dance.

These entertainments make children to have a broad idea that the school is not mere books, more than that togetherness are built within themselves and these activities bring an open mind and positive attitude for the child’s development.

Admission procedure

Admission at St. Paul’s Matriculation School is restricted by certain policies of the management and by the conditions of age, ability and conduct of the candidate. Hence, applicants for admission may be given an oral / written test at the time of admission. The decision of the school authorities regarding the admission shall be final.

Admissions are made in Pre-KG, LKG, UKG, classes and for standards I to IX.

For direct admission children should satisfy the age rule i.e., 2+ for nursery, 3+ for LKG, 4+ for UKG, 5+ for I Std., and so on. Students coming from unrecognized institution will not be admitted. Two passport size photos(recent), Photo copy of the BIRTH CERTIFICATE and Community Certificate, original copy of Transfer Certificate should be produced at the time of admission.

Procedure for LKG, includes a personal meeting with the child and parents to verify the certificates and to brief the rules and regulations of the school. An entrance test will be conducted in Tamil, English and Maths for the students seeking admission for UKG to Std IX and those who are selected on merit alone will be allowed to join the institution.

Application for admission should be made on the prescribed form by parents or guardian who will be responsible to the head of the school for the pupil’s conduct, punctuality, regular attendance, progress in school and payment of fees.

The Principal reserves the right of refusing admission to a pupil without ascribing any reason in it. He also reserves the right to discontinue the studies of any pupil whose conduct and academic performance is not satisfactory.

Staff Council

The school has the following Staff Councils :

  • Academic Council
  • Cultural Council
  • Sports Council

The Academic Council aims to maintain high academic standards by introducing the most effective techniques of teaching, raising the standard of weaker students, organizing various curricular activities like Seminars, Group discussions etc.

The Cultural Council is in charge of organizing various school functions like Club Inauguration Day, Independence day, Teachers’ Day, Children’s Day, Christmas Day, Pongal Day, Annual Day etc. and for conducting film shows and other recreational activities for the pupils.

The Sports Council is in charge of organizing the Annual Sports meet, Inter-House matches and other kinds of organizing activities in the school. It is also responsible for organizing morning assembly, maintaining discipline at morning assembly, looking after the cleanliness, students turn out, classroom and school premises and aiming towards better discipline.

Examination

The school shall conduct Micro tests, three Mid-term exams and three Terminal exams. Scholastic and non-scholastic achievements are assessed periodically from Stds. I to IX. Progress reports are sent to the parents periodically and should be returned duly countersigned within three days. Parents may discuss the progress of their children with the Principal/Correspondent

Promotion

The pupils are promoted to the next higher class on the basis of their performance during the whole year. Hence regularity in attendance and studies is imperative for promotion to higher class.

The result declared by the school at the end of the years is final in all cases and will not be reconsidered under any circumstances. A pupil whose conduct is not up to the minimum standard of the school shall be asked to leave the school. Further, a pupil who fails twice in the same class will not be allowed to continue his/her studies in the school.
